The second annual Risetime toy drive benefiting Chicagoland Toys for Tots was a great success this holiday season. In total, we donated just over sixty toys that were given to a wide range of children from infants to teens, and fulfilled a variety of interests from books and games to sports, cuddly stuffed animals, and educational toys.
As was the case in 2008, the lasting effect of the economic climate was felt
by Chicagoland Toys for Tots in 2009. They were short 250,000 toys this year, a record shortage, which left them struggling to fill the many toy requests of local non-profit organizations. It’s unfortunate that the donations were so greatly impacted, but has made Risetime and our employees that much more proud of our efforts and contributions to this important charity.
About Toys for Tots:
Toys for Tots was founded in 1947 and is run by the United States Marines Corps Reserve. Only certified non-profit organizations can request toys from Toys for Tots, who then distributes toys and financial donations to the requesting organizations. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
