Risetime’s new Medical Fax Management for SharePoint enables the
preapproval/precertification process (that hospitals require for patients to ensure insurance coverage and billing details) to work efficiently and accurately. Precertification of patients is a crucial administrative function for hospitals, but also important to patients so they understand the costs of their treatment upfront. The Risetime Medical Fax Management solution was recently selected for implementation at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, based on Risetime’s extensive process improvement experience and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status.
The Risetime Medical Fax Management solution accomplished several goals for Bromenn. In addition to having a real-time, 360 degree view of all physicians’ orders, BroMenn has been able to improve interdepartmental and physician communication, all while improving the patient experience and expediting collection efforts.

BroMenn realized the initial value of focusing on their “Discharged Not Final Billed” DNFB efficiency by pre-screening physicians orders for items such as medical necessity, physician signature and date, and pre-coding. They first initiated a paper-based pilot program for pre-screening physician’s orders before the Medical Fax Management for SharePoint was launched. A secondary benefit of electronically managing this process is BroMenn has drastically decreased paper use for physician’s orders, contributing to the hospital’s green initiative.
Penny Nydegger, BroMenn’s Patient Access Director, is pleased that the solution has both increased administrative efficiency as well as improving patient satisfaction: “With the Medical Fax Management for SharePoint, our orders are managed quicker and processed at a higher staff level. We are finding orders that do not meet medical necessity in a timelier manner and are addressing these issues before the service is performed. This has the dual benefit of providing our patients exceptional personalized care and assuring that BroMenn receives payment for services.”
