Situation Assessment
Since 1993, this Risetime client had been using a legacy system application to help manage daily operations related to student registration and enrollment, college administration, financial aid, and other important institution functions. As a result, a significant amount of data and information were stored in the legacy system's history files.
While this system was providing an appropriate level of functionality for their institution, it had limited on-line data analytic capabilities and did not allow effective and timely executive management reporting. This resulted in less than ideal efficiency for many personnel, as well as limited decision making abilities - all at a time when many institutions and businesses were being challenged to do “more with less”.
Consequently, Risetime was engaged to help remedy these inefficiencies and to further support the activities and needs of the Registrar’s office.
Solution Overview
Risetime began by completing a comprehensive organizational assessment, coupled with a requirements & needs gathering process specific to the Registrar’s office. Risetime then constructed a high-level general design of the solution needed to address the Registrar’s office high priority needs.
To address these needs and ultimately, to provide extended functionality to more effectively analyze the significant amount of data from the legacy systems, Risetime developed and implemented a Data Warehouse solution. The Data Warehouse focused on supporting the accounting and finance office, specifically by developing a budget and financial Business Intelligence model.
